RAA held the agency’s first CPR Save Pin presentation ceremony of the year. RAA recognized two crews for calls in which they performed CPR and each saved a patient, who was discharged from the hospital with no neurological deficit.

Each year, more than 350,000 people in the United States experience sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) outside of a hospital setting. Of those, only about 35,000 survive to hospital discharge, and far too many carry the lasting impact of neurological impairment.

RAA’s Chief Operating Officer, Ryan Martinette, shared a few words about the calls, the amazing response by staff and how rare it is to achieve this feat. As Chief Martinette described the heroic actions of the crews, Director of EMS Operations, Austin Mostoller, pinned the recipients:

Reeves Yanez
Marius Strahan
Matt Linardos*
Nijah Green
Clayton Baucom
Richard Williams

In addition, members who were unable to attend but were also involved in the lifesaving calls were:
Miguel Bolanos*
Jessica Whitehead* (not pictured)

Special thanks to our partners at the American Heart Association – Virginia, as Senior Development Director, Liz Arline, presented our crews with Heart Saver Awards.

Congrats and job well done!
