In November 2024, the Richmond chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) recognized Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA) staff members, including Lieutenant Christy Pritt, at their annual public safety awards. The winners were automatically entered as nominees for the statewide Virginia Society SAR Public Safety Awards.
On Monday, the President of the Virginia Society SAR, Philip Barnard, presented Lieutenant Pritt with the statewide Emergency Medical Service award. Lieutenant Pritt was recognized for her work during a Virginia SAR event last year in which the heat index reached triple digits. During the event, Lieutenant Pritt was vigilant in scanning the large crowd for anyone who needed assistance. She quickly responded to one individual who needed help and after she made sure the patient was stable, she immediately responded to another individual who was also in need of help because of the heat. That patient was escorted to an emergency vehicle and was monitored by Lieutenant Pritt as they stabilized. Lieutenant Pritt was commended for her professionalism, as most attendees had no idea some in the crowd were ever in distress, and for de-escalating the situations with no interruption to the event.
The Virginia Society SAR recognized Lieutenant Pritt in a surprise ceremony held at the Richmond Ambulance Authority during National EMS Week.
