The Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA) recognized one of our crews who successfully saved a life using CPR and also reunited them with the patient, John Jenks and bystander, Mattias Clouse, who performed CPR before first responders arrived. RAA held a CPR Save Pin Presentation to recognize the crew and Mattias for saving John’s life by performing CPR and transporting him to HCA Virginia Health System‘s Chippenham Hospital, where he was eventually discharged with no neurological deficit. An incredibly rare feat.
RAA’s Chief Operating Officer, Ryan Martinette, shared a few words about how this call perfectly represented the American Heart Association’s “Chain of Survival” and how everyone from the 911 dispatcher to the bystander to first responders and the hospital played a role in saving a life. It was the first CPR Save Pin Ceremony where the patient pinned our recipients:
