Richmond Ambulance Authority Training Coordinator Harold Mayfield spoke about heat-related illnesses ahead of athletes and marching band members taking the field. It’s important to look out for signs of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, headache, nausea, muscle cramps and fatigue and heat stroke including confusion, lack of sweat, or unconsciousness.
Drink plenty of fluids the night before and day of activities and take a break if you start to experience any symptoms.
