It was the 35th anniversary of National Night Out. The community building campaign promotes police-community partnerships with events in all 50 states, in neighborhoods across the country. The Richmond Ambulance Authority participated in more than a dozen events across the City of Richmond. In addition to enjoying good food and good conversations with people in the community we serve, we taught many residents the benefits of Hands-Only CPR.

The life-saving skill is important for everyone to know. Hands-only CPR is done without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an “out-of-hospital” setting. In those situations, it is important to call 9-1-1 (or ask someone else to do that) and press hard and fast in the center of the chest.
